It is the biggest University of Madhya Pradesh formerly known as University of Saugor.

Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya has campus of 1312.89 acres over Pathatiya Hills and university has 36 teaching departments & 175 affiliated colleges. Every Year University serves thousands of students in the field of post graduate and research courses, Geology, Pharmacy, Criminology & Forensic Science, Anthropology, Performing Arts, Journalism & Mass Communication, Adult Education, Electronics, Business Management, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Computer Applications.
